Downrigging
Downrigging is an annual occurrence for Gazela's crew. It is the process of removing the sails, running rig and spars from the ship for winter maintenance. All work is done by the crew, using block and tackle to lower the 1 ton wooden spars. Once the rig is down on deck, a winter cover is built to protect those who choose to work during the cold winter months.
